These days I'm reading East of Desolation by Harry Patterson aka Jack Higgins. The plot is pretty typical: An essentially good-hearted but cynical ex-army-pilot-reformed-alcoholic-turned-freight-pilot in Greenland getting in and out of trouble with a few beautiful women and violent bar brawls thrown into the mix. Not much of a challenge compared to my usual reading material, but it makes for a nice break. And there's lots of booze involved, which suits me just right at the moment.
